Download both fictional files first. They are free and work without a ZIP on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Read brief-sample.txt and draft-sample.txt in this folder. Draft a short update to the co-op board about the welcome-note project using only brief-supported facts. State what is not known, without invented metrics. Save it as member-update.txt. Do not edit the inputs.

Where we are
New members sign up online. Right now their welcome is a receipt and a fridge magnet. The goal of this project is to help new members feel like owners, not just shoppers. A draft welcome note is due Friday.

What the note can offer
Staff can invite new members to a Saturday morning orientation and show them how to suggest products. The note should point members to both.

Use a computer for this part. Choose Claude Code for the optional Mac kits or OMP for the plain-text practice path. Install only your chosen tool. Nothing is uploaded to this site.

Make a folder called cli-practice inside Downloads, then put both fictional files in it. Leave the originals unchanged. Then choose your computer below.

One next move

Open the saved file and identify a sentence to improve. Ask for a second version saved as a new file, without changing either original. Turn your actual nonconfidential notes into an update, checking every number.
