The prompt

Re-render this image as an Edward Hopper oil painting from the mature American Realist period, between 1927 and 1962, in the visual register of Nighthawks, Early Sunday Morning, Office in a Small City, and Morning Sun. Hard raking light from a single oblique source, either low morning sun or harsh fluorescent interior, casting clean unmodulated geometric shadow blocks. Architecture rendered with cold precision: flat clapboard walls, deep window recesses, hard horizontal cornices, the building itself an active presence. Palette restricted, slightly chalky: warm brick reds, sour mustard yellows, sage and pea greens, deep windowless blacks, cold steel-grey skies, one cadmium accent on a sign or dress. Brushwork tight and matte, no impasto, no painterly bravura, surfaces flat as a movie set. Figure or figures rendered impassive, faces unreadable or turned away, posture caught between actions, the body language refusing to explain itself. Cinematic American mid-century architectural vocabulary: diner counter, hotel room, gas station, office window, brownstone stoop, but the architecture supplies itself from the source image, do not invent. Composition deliberately empty, large quadrants of bare wall or empty pavement, the figure NEVER centered, always pushed to one third. What it is doing

Hopper painted the United States as it actually felt in the twentieth century: alone in a well-lit room with the radio off. The famous quote about Nighthawks ("unconsciously, probably, I was painting the loneliness of a large city") is the diagnostic. The Hopper register is the only American painting tradition that takes solitude seriously without romanticizing it as European Bohemia.
