Find the surprising day in twelve sales rows
Turn a tiny spreadsheet into a chart you can question.
- About 15 minutes
- For anyone with a small spreadsheet who wants to see what its numbers actually say.
- Runs in Claude Code and OMP
What the agent made
Ran it for real with Claude Code 2.1.292 and OMP 18.8.5 on 2026-10-08, in an empty session with no saved memory. Your result will differ.
Open what Claude Code made, full screen
The same prompt in OMP made its own version: open what OMP made. Two runs, two different results: that is normal.

Unzip it: you get a folder called
cli-practicewith 1 fictional file. Download the fictional sales-sample.csv with 12 dates, unit counts, and dollar totals.Open your agent in that folder

In this practice folder, read sales-sample.csv without changing it. Using only Python's standard library, create sales-chart.svg with all 12 dates and dollar amounts labeled. Embed the chart in finding.html with totals, highest and lowest day, and one cautious observation grounded in the CSV. Show the dates and values behind each finding and check the sum against the source. Check units and report their total. Stay in this folder. Do not install packages, access the network, use external resources, or modify inputs. Keep the HTML self-contained. Use commas, not em dashes.
The prompt asks the agent to stay in this folder; it cannot enforce that. Read each file change and command before you approve it.
Check it yourself
Open
cli-practice/finding.htmlin your web browser (double-click it), then:Human check: Open finding.html and the SVG, verify the 12 labeled amounts sum to $1,250, and confirm April 10 is the $200 peak.
When we checked the recording above: Opened final finding.html and sales-chart.svg in Chromium; saw 12 labeled daily bars, April 10 peak $200, April 3 low $70. Independently summed 12 CSV amounts to $1,250 and units to 123; page agrees, HTML embeds SVG offline, input unchanged.
Why an agent, not a chat window
The agent reads the local CSV, calculates the totals, and writes a chart and a linked finding you can open offline.
